27. Thirukkannankudi

This divya desam is one of he five Krishna aranya Kshetrams. This is on the road from Tanjavore to Nagapattinam, just about 6 kilometers from Nagapattinam. From the higway at a place called Aazhiyur you have to take a turn and go for a few kilometers in village road to reach this temple.


The moolavar is Shyamalameni Perumal or Lokanathan in nindra kolam. Thayar is Aravindavalli. 
Brigu maharishi, Gowthama Rishi and Brahma worshipped the lord here. Vasishta maharishi is said to have made Lord Krishna image out of butter and worshipped it here and hence the name ‘Thirukkannankudi’.
Thirimangai Azhwar has done mangalasaasanam here.
The vimaanam is Utpala Vimanam and theertham is Sravana pushkarini. 
This kshetram is known as giving relief to people who are in debt and entangled in court casses.
