In this temple there is a separate sannidhi for Thiruppaanaazhwaar. There is an interesting story behind this Azhwar. Paana was born in Urayur near Srirangam, in a potter’s family. Since he was born in a low caste potter’s family, he was not allowed inside the Srirangam temple. Hence he used to stand on the banks of river Cauvery, see the Gopuram and sing the praise of Lord Ranganatha.
