12. Thiru Kudandai (Kumbakonam)

The inner temple is made of black granite stone and is in the form of a chariot with wheels drawn by horses and elephants. There are two entrances, one for Uttaraayana punya kaala and the other for Dhakshinaayana punya kaala. Chola kings built the huge gopuram which is 140 feet high. Vijayanagara rulers renovated this. This temple has beautiful sculptures of Bharata Natya Karnas as per the rules of the Natya Sashraa.
