Sthala Puranam - Lord Rama after Ravana vadha came to Dridanetra Muni ashram and stayed there. As per Muni's advice Rama got a Cow made of pure gold and donated it to a brahmin, who used the gold to construct this temple and hence the name, Thiru Sempon Sei Kovil.
Lord here is with Bhoodevi and Neeladevi, Brahma and other Devas graced the occasion of Yajna and relieved Shiva from the curse of Brahmahathi.
