Lord Rama stands here as Purushottaman along with Thayar Purushottama Nayaki.
Sthala Puranam - Once Vyagrapada Maharishi came here with his child Upamanyu for darshan. When he had gone to fetch flowers the child cried and hence Lord got milk from Ksheerabdhi. After drinking the boy asked lord to keep the milk here itself and hence lord left it here as Thirpparkadal theertham.
It is believed that bathing in this theertham on dwadhashi of Karthigai month on which day it was brought, washes away all sins.
