This Divya desam is located about 1kms from Kumbakonam to Swamimalai by road. The moolavar is Valvil Ramar in Bhujanga sayanam. The Thayar is Hemambujavalli – Potramaraiyal. As per the sthala purana the temple is located at the spot where Lord Rama has rested after offering moksham to Jatayu. The theertham is Jatayu theertham and vimanam is Sobana vimanam.
